The rehabilitation of downtown Veracruz is progressing with the aim of revitalizing both the cultural and commercial environment.

Lavalle Garcés said that one of the key aspects of the rehabilitation of downtown Veracruz is the transformation of Avenida Independencia into a pedestrian zone during weekends, while vehicle circulation will be allowed during the week.
“It is expected that on weekends Avenida Independencia will be pedestrianized and on weekdays there will be traffic. This is very positive because during the week there are businesses and many people who work in the center and need mobility. On weekends with the pedestrian program, other types of businesses will be encouraged to open, so that people can walk and enjoy the cultural spaces,” he commented.
