New club leadership at the Zurich Renegades
American Soccer Club Zurich Renegades has chosen a new club manager. The reorganization of the Board is intended to further improve the development of the club, which has existed since 1983, and to give new impetus to groups and sports.
Empty on the table that has been known for a long time
In the weeks before the general meeting it was announced that some board members would not be running for another term. Among other things, a replacement had to be found for the leadership, for operations and also for marketing. However, outsiders did not know that an almost complete renovation of the board was underway.
With the press release published today, the Zurich Renegades want to stop the rumor mill in sight. From the general meeting a week ago, it was clear that not many stones were left unturned in Zurich. In a kind of election, two board groups competed against each other – and the group around Sina Brüngger has now won the race. Olivier Gossweiler, a veteran of the Zurich Renegades, lost. In a WhatsApp message leaked to endzone.ch, he ended the message with “former Zurich Renegade”. This means that he will not only leave the board, but also the club.
A breath of fresh air in Zurich
Renegades’ new leadership speaks of a “breath of fresh air” for the people of Zurich. President Sina Brüngger is confident about the future: “This club has great potential. We not only want to preserve what is there, but also set new standards – for our members, our fans and for the sport of American football in Zurich. With united strength we can achieve great things.”
Alexandra Koller, who is responsible for communication, also emphasizes the importance of the members: “The members are the heart and soul of our club. Their dedication and commitment make the Renegades something special. Our goal is to build an even closer community and, together, raise the spirit of American soccer in Zurich to a new level.”
Matchmaking and training activities remain secure during the move. At the same time, projects are being planned to encourage young talent, present the sport more to the public and strengthen long-term partnerships. The new club management is keen to further develop the club together with members, sponsors and fans in a way that focuses on the future and permanently embeds it in the sporting landscape. Zurich.
It is not clear from the press release who the other board members are. The old board was also visible on the website at the time this article was published.
