the Renaï family sees the holidays in a big way

Santa Claus has a job when he arrives at the Renaï’s. Parents too. This year, little Maddy came to add a sock to the family fireplace. She was born on October 27 in Thionville, she is the ninth child of the siblings. She joins Manon, 18, Dorianne, 16, Enzo, 11, Timéo, 10, Damon, 6, Luna, 4, Harysson, 2. Océane, 20, has left the nest.

Manage my choices

Coralie, the mother, 40, did not want children when she was a teenager. Finally the fulfilled mother did not stop. “Maddy is the last,” she smiles, narrowing her big blue eyes. The Renaï house, in Malancourt-la-Montagne, is decorated, red and silver. The family woke up around a stone grill, easy to prepare, ideal for enjoying the moment. The holiday season is a marathon for Coralie and her husband Tayeb, 39 years old. They opt for the drive to the supermarket and shopping on the internet.

“Here, we don’t have time to be bored”,

But rather than collecting Advent calendars and stacking chocolates, they opted for a game, imagined throughout the month of December, embodied by a fabric elf. A good way to manage the pressure build-up before Christmas Eve. “Every day, we prepared a little present, a note, an attention. And if the children were not good, the elf punished them with a pledge. “It’s important to keep the magic,” insists Coralie.

Like TV shows on XXL families, the Renaï film and share certain precious moments. Coralie created a YouTube channel, diva luna, where she posts photos and videos. The Unwrapping of Christmas Gifts is the latest publication.

Around a raclette

“There is no time to be bored here,” Timéo sums up, while his two-year-old brother Harysson imitates a dinosaur cry and four-year-old Luna plays on her dressing table. The 10-year-old boy contributes, like his elders, to the daily chores that keep the house running and relieve the mother. She made the choice to breastfeed all of her children for two or even three years when she could. “It can happen that there are strokes of fatigue”, admits Coralie.

The baby had to be hospitalized in early December. “I was calling them on video to tell them what to do,” she says, holding Maddy on her tiny black-clad figure. “Mum is the brain of the family”, Manon slips. The 18-year-old loves taking care of the little ones. “I didn’t let go of Maddy when they got home from maternity,” she confesses. Dorianne, 16, prefers to stick to the dishes. “I don’t want kids,” she grimaces.

Everyone must find their place. The dad is a team leader at ArcelorMittal. During the holidays, he endeavors to do an activity, alone, with everyone. They are getting ready to celebrate the New Year with their family. “With a couple of friends who only have two children”, moderates Tayeb. As for Christmas, they found the solution to simplify the party. “We have planned a raclette”, they answer. Here again, the goal is to have a good time, together, that’s all.
