The remake of a shocking western classic with Denzel Washington, three Marvel stars and lots of action

It is becoming increasingly difficult to watch a major Hollywood production without the presence of at least one actor involved in Disney’s MCU. This is the case of The seven magnificentswhich since its announcement had a very attractive cast.

It’s about a remake of a classic film released in 1960 with John Sturges as director. The difference is that while the original story was set in Japan, this version takes place in the United States.

The cast is led by an Oscar winner, Denzel Washingtonand also includes Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke y Vincent D’OnofrioThe direction was in the hands of Antoine Fuqua, an old acquaintance of the protagonist of The Vigilante.

The story takes place in 1987, in the town of Rose Creek, owned by businessman Bartholomew Bogue, who exploits the gold mines without scruples. On the other hand, a small group of inhabitants who have not yet been killed or expelled decides to pool all his savings to hire seven men to free them.

As expected, each character has a unique personality and a very particular style of work. For example, Chris Pratt opts to use explosives, while D’Onofrio prefers to be stealthy in all his movements and Lee Byung-Hun decides that it is best to use knives in any scenario.

The remake also had a previous history. In 2012, the project was leaked and I was hoping to feature Tom Cruise, Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon in the cast.although a producer had not yet been chosen. Two years passed and a completely different group of actors was assembled.

Unfortunately, the response to the film was not the best at the box office; it only grossed 160 million dollars, and considering that it cost 60 million, it was a failure. The specialized press did not receive it in the best way either: in IMDb has a rating of 6.9 out of 10Meanwhile in Rotten Tomatoes count with one 64% approval.

The seven magnificents is available on Amazon Prime Video.
