The relocation of the Symphony Orchestra from the Grand Guild, which is awaiting repairs, has been postponed to the end of the season / Article

The LNSO promises to inform more about the reconstruction plans of the Grand Guild and the activities of the orchestra during the beginning of March.

It was previously planned that the orchestra would leave its permanent home in the Grand Guild in March, as large-scale repairs are expected, during which the LNSO will conduct the rehearsal and concert process elsewhere.

Changes in the reconstruction plans mean that listeners will be able to enjoy the orchestra’s musical performances at the LNSO’s permanent residence for some time to come.

In the concert “Elgar, Grieg and Peterson’s New Work”, which will take place on Saturday, March 25, listeners will be able to indulge in the musical dialogue of the orchestra’s higher and lower sounding instruments – flute and double bass. Oskars Petrauskis, one of the most renowned saxophonists in Latvia, will premiere Alvils Altmanis’ new works, while the saxophone quartet “Atomos” will join the performance of the American minimalist Philip Glass’s composition.

The author of the idea, Elīna Bērtiņa, describes the concert program as follows: four contrasts, four opposites, four personalities and four languages. 20th century music has always been an exciting and endless source of cognition of the era, where each composer’s unique musical aesthetic is shaped by an individual personality experience. Pianist Elīna Bērtiņa, cellist Ieva Upatniece, violinist Georgs Sarkisjans and clarinetist Mārtiņš Circenis will take part in the concert.
