Population studies into different types of cancer are of little use according to American scientists. They have hardly any effect on the average mortality rate, according to an American scientific journal this week. ‘Here we go again’! thought Jelle Barentsz, former professor of Radiology who is now investigating whether a population screening for prostate cancer should be introduced in the Netherlands on behalf of the Ministry of Health.
