Getting sexual pleasure through masturbation is something that is done quite often. Many people associate this activity with kidney and urinary tract stones.
Although there is no evidence that masturbation can have a direct impact on kidney and urinary tract health, unhygienic masturbation can increase the risk.
A urology specialist from Royal Progress Hospital (RSRP), Dr. Endrika Noviandrini, SpU explained that masturbation can increase the risk of urinary tract infections which can lead to kidney stones due to unhygienic practices afterwards.
“Actually, if you masturbate too much, the side effect is that it causes infections. The urinary tract can easily occur. So when you masturbate, sometimes after masturbating you don’t clean it properly and correctly,” he said in a conversation with detikcomThursday (07/09/2023).
As a result of not cleaning properly, bacteria can enter the urinary tract and increase the risk of infection. Although there is no direct correlation between masturbation and kidney stones, urinary tract infections due to poor hygiene factors can be a risk factor for the formation of kidney stones later in life.
“And that’s what sometimes causes urinary tract infections which later lead to kidney stones. However, the method of entry is not a direct correlation, that means sometimes frequent masturbation causes infection, and then the infection causes stones,” continued Dr. Endrika.
Urinary Tract Infections Due to Masturbation
Quoted from Sprint Medical, urinary tract infection (UTI) or infection of the urinary tract is another dimension of the relationship between the kidneys and masturbation. This condition is included in kidney infection.
Urinary tract infections usually occur in people who are unhygienic when masturbating. This condition is not kidney dysfunction due to masturbation, but due to masturbation that is not carried out with cleanliness.
Therefore, it can be said that masturbation does not affect the kidneys directly, but urinary tract infections can reach the kidneys causing infection in them.
“Not from masturbation, but infections that must be avoided. Urinary tract infections which can later lead to stones,” concluded Dr. Endrika.
