After the presentation of the first 27 winners of the call for projects on December 7, the national agency for urban renewal (Anru) has just announced the list of 48 new projects “Les Quartiers Fertiles”, which will spread the urban agriculture throughout the territory. Among these, that of Reims baptized “Development of urban agriculture in priority district of the policy of the city” was retained.
The idea is to install an urban farm in the Croix-Rouge district of Reims. Two sites have been identified to host this program. The first is located in the Pays de France zone. In front of the Arago high school, bordered by the alleys of Béarnais, Burgundians and Landais, a group of low-cost housing made up of 900 homes is being demolished. The second option is located on the racecourse of Reims. The City intends to invest in “The quality relationship” that she maintains with the Reims racing company to convince her to set up plantations in the middle of the tracks. The schedule presented provides for the first experiments in 2021-2022, then deployment and spin-off in 2023-2024
“Urban agriculture is progressing, welcomed Julien Denormandie, Minister of Agriculture and Food, declared during the announcement of the 48 new projects chosen. Thanks to the operation “Les Quartiers fertiles” and the support provided by the France Relance plan, it has taken its place in the landscape of our neighborhoods while bringing many benefits. At the same time social, educational and economic, they make it possible above all to promote access for all to healthy and local food. “
