A journey into the past and gaining new experiences: that was the dream of Manuela and Konny Reimann when planning your road trip. The first stop should take her to Dallas to see son Jason. Then to travel around for a few days with his wife Hunter and the children Kealan and Oliver. Full of euphoria, Manu bought souvenirs for everyone – including Janina’s family. Which they then wanted to visit together in Portland, Oregon. But as beautiful as the idea of the emigrant couple was, none of it was to become a reality.

One phone call from Jason changed everything! His son Olli had chickenpox, including a fever. But what now? “Right now I have no idea what we can do now,” complained Manu. The risk of infecting Janina’s little son Charlie is simply too great. “All plans are over!”, Manu wailed disappointed. Meanwhile, Konny tried to calm his wife down: “Oh, my angel, we’ll find something.” So a new plan had to be found!

Instead of having Jason pick you up at the airport, the two took a rental car and drove to his family. With the luggage full of plush teddy bears, the couple arrived in the small town where their son lived with his family. The gifts were given – albeit with a safe margin. With tears in her eyes because she couldn’t hug her grandchildren, Manu handed over the presents: “As soon as we leave again or the children leave again, then I always cry.”
But even if the road trip went differently than planned, the Reimanns made the best of it!
