The Regional Health Agency has inspected 90 nursing homes

This inspection follows revelations of book abuse The Gravediggers by journalist Victor Castanet. Most of these inspections were carried out jointly with the county councils. 46 reports have already been transmitted and four visits have given rise to a final decision letter (including that of the Ehpad Orpéa “Les Bords de Seine“, in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine), in the center of polemic).

Since the publication of Victor Castanet’s book, the ARS IDF has received nearly three times more complaints than over the same period last year. In addition to these inspections-controls, nursing homes are also inspected by the Health-Environment services of the ARS, but this activity has been strongly impacted by the health crisis. The inspections were carried out by two agents from the ARS and at least one representative of the county council. They took place on three levels: an on-site control, an inspection-control limited to four themes for the nursing homes reported and a complete inspection-control for the most reported establishments.

For the moment, 45 Ehpad have been the subject of a proposal for a decision to improve administrative and medical governance, 44 of a proposal for a decision to improve care and 48 of a proposal for a decision relating to the functions support, HR in particular. It should be noted that the Ehpad La Roseraie, in Livry-Gargan (Seine-Saint-Denis), has been placed under provisional administration for six months due to a serious situation endangering the physical and moral health of the residents, as well as their safety.
