The regional governor is looking for a solution to the problem with the Burgas airport – 2024-03-01 09:51:02

Regional Governor Plamen Yanev

Regional Governor Plamen Yanev is gathering all interested parties to find a solution to the problem of reducing flights to and from Burgas Airport.

It will be held in the Regional Administration on March 15 /Friday/. At it, the interested parties will have to draw up a clear plan for the necessary actions to not only stop this negative trend, but also gradually make Burgas Airport a leader again in a country with a multi-million passenger flow and dozens of destinations.

The search for opportunities to increase flights and passenger traffic in the area is a priority for Plamen Yanev. All efforts to extend the season and create opportunities to visit the region outside the summer season face difficulties due to the lack of direct flights to and from Burgas. He is adamant that air transport connectivity is a key factor for the good economic development of any region.

“For years, there has been an alarming trend of the decrease in the number of flights at Burgas Airport and their increasingly limited time range. We all suffer the consequences of this. The dynamics in the tourism sphere necessitates the need for an urgent reaction regarding the solution to this problem,” comments Yanev.

The mayors of the Burgas region, the executive director of the Plovdiv Airport, as well as local organizations in the tourism industry have been invited to the meeting. They will bring together expertise to draw up a clear plan of what is needed to end this negative trend. Together, they will formulate specific questions that they will address to the Ministry of Transport and the concessionaire “Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD, as well as prepare a unified strategy through which to support and develop interest in the Burgas region.
