JEMBER, KOMPAS.com – Dozens of Jember residents who joined the 272 movement held a demonstration in front of the Jember Regency Government office on Monday (27/2/2023).
They criticized the two years of Jember regent Hendy Siswanto’s leadership, one of which was regarding allegations of nepotism.

The action coordinator, Kustiono Musri, said that Hendy Siswanto had served as regent of Jember for two years since he was sworn in on February 26, 2021.
However, political promises to improve Jember, as conveyed in the campaign, are considered to have not been fulfilled.
“Instead of fulfilling the promise, the Jember regent’s regent’s nepotism smells bad,” said Kustiono after the action.

He gave an example, there are two nephews of the regent who are not civil servants, but are personal adjutants to the regent.
In fact, he said, since this government was founded, there had never been a non-ASN aide who came from the regent’s family.
“Another nephew and one of his sons-in-law received a Regent’s Decree to become a Team of Experts, with no clear competence,” he explained.
In addition, he said, one nephew of the Jember regent who did not meet the requirements for the rank of ASN, was appointed as Head of Protocol and Leadership Communications Headquarters.
Kustiono also accused one of the Jember Regent’s cronies from Semarang who became the Regent’s Expert Team who managed the Jember Regency Government’s project game.
In addition, they also criticized the sale of bottled drinking water produced by a company owned by the regent’s family. In fact, the Regency Government itself has a Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) which also produces bottled drinking water.
“Evidently, we found bottled drinking water labeled Dr. Soebandi Regional Hospital which was produced by a company owned by the regent’s family,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jember Regent Hendy Siswanto said what the demonstrators said was to remind him.
“Reminding all of us, especially me, the two years since the leadership of the Jember regent, everyone can correct,” he said.
He assessed that the voices from the demonstrators were input and there had to be improvements.
“Of course what we produce in the development that is already running, that’s the result,” he said.
Hendy admits that he is open to residents who want to improve his performance.
“There are still many things that are lacking, we continue to maintain Jember’s mandate,” he said.
