/ world today news/The single registration for the local elections is still in question
The lists for municipal councilors of the reformers should be arranged according to the results of the parliamentary elections. This is one of the proposals that the five parties in the Bloc are considering. The other option being proposed is for the base to use the results of the last local vote in 2011. The dilemma still hampers the final handshake in the coalition for a unified appearance in the September elections. Although Meglena Kuneva’s people made a call for a unified registration months ago, and DSB officially declined a week ago, its implementation is still questionable. Until we specify the details and make a decision, there is no way to proceed with the unified registration for the local elections, said Dimitar Tanev, deputy chairman of the DBG. Among the other details that stand in the way of the final handshake in the coalition for a single turnout is how to proceed in places where most parties agree on the list, but one has a different view.
The principle of ordering the lists is of great importance to the reformers, because the two options would give different advantages to the individual parties. If the proposal is based on the results of the parliamentary elections, the DBG will have the advantage, which won the most deputies – 7, against 5 from the DSB and 4 from the SDS. However, if the results of the local vote in 2011 are taken as a basis, the picture will be reversed, because Kuneva’s people did not participate there. On the other hand, in not one or two municipal councils there are representatives of the “Blue Coalition”, which then included DSB and SDS. According to the reformers, unity should be achieved by the end of the month and the Bloc should register for the vote in September. However, this seems somewhat doubtful also against the background of the frequent seditions between the structures of the individual parties at the local level.
Against this background, the Deputy Chairman of the DSB, Petar Moskov, yesterday called for even greater unity in the reformist coalition, although this topic has always divided the parties in the Bloc. According to him, with its structure, the bloc cannot be a stable partner in the government, nor a stable opposition. “For me, this structure is exhausted and the coming weeks should make it clear whether the parties from the bloc are ready to go to a single structure that can be a stable partner,” he told Nova TV. However, according to his coalition partners, there is currently no room for such a conversation. The bloc’s parliamentary group is united, I don’t think there is a need for such discussions at the moment, commented Kostadin Markov from the SDS.
