The number of voters who participated in the national referendum, according to the number of envelopes found in the ballot boxes, is 3,488,558 voters and is less than the number of voters who participated in the last elections for national representatives, 3,500,585 voters.
“The results of the referendum almost fell short of being binding and with the force of law for the National Assembly. The activity in this citizen’s initiative was extremely high and I am convinced that the National Assembly will take the necessary measures given the expressed will of the sovereign”, said the chairperson of the CEC Ivilina Alexieva.
The number of voters, according to the electoral rolls, is 6,865,086.
2,509,864 answered “yes” to the question about the majority system, 560,024 answered “no”; on the question of mandatory voting with “yes” – 2,158,929, with “no” – 905,691; 2,516,791 answered “yes” to the question of reducing the annual subsidy to the parties, 523,759 answered “no”.
