When the referee chose to stop Monday’s G19 showdown between two clubs in the Oslo area, there was chaos – and he had to get a police escort off the field. The leader of one of the clubs says it is relevant to close down the team.

– We will have a board meeting tonight (Tuesday, journ. Note). We are a newly started club, and issues like this are a burden for us. This is something we are very sorry for, says the general manager of the club who had four players sent off – hereafter called the “away team” – to VG.
VG has chosen to anonymize both teams, as there may be minor players in a G19 match and the police were involved. The general manager of the away team was not physically present when the match was played on Monday night.
The home team led when the match was stopped, and the away team had received their fourth red card some distance into the second half. Then the judge chose to blow it all off, but the already bad mood escalated.
– The match could still, but the coaches of the away team asked me to cancel the match because they were not more than seven men left on the field. All the cards came due to gross word of mouth, says the judge to Østlandets Blad, who first mentioned the case.
VG has been in contact with the referee, who refers to the report he has sent over to the Oslo football district. The leader of the Oslo football club, Tore Bråteng, did not have the opportunity to answer our questions on Tuesday.
– The police were present and made sure that the gang associated with the away team was taken away. It is sad that a sports event can not be carried out due to bad behavior, says task leader Randi Nymoen-Jahren in the Eastern police district to Østlandets Blad.
The general manager of the away team says that the police were already present at this match because they have had disciplinary challenges in the past. Some of the spectators who follow the team have also created problems for opponents and referees.
– It is no secret that we have had episodes earlier around this team. We have a coach who has worked really hard with these boys, he says – and says the club was established as a social initiative.
– Many of the players are from different ethnic backgrounds and have very little, or no, network around them. We as a club have wanted to contribute that they have an activity to go to, but it creates a number of challenges we struggle to cope with alone, explains the general manager of the away team, who is sorry for what has now happened:
– That was the last thing I said to them after the previous dishwashing meeting, not long ago, that I did not want to have the phone call I have now, he says with reference to the call from VG.
– Can it be relevant to withdraw the team from league games?
– It is definitely an alternative, that is why we will have a board meeting tonight.
The home team’s general manager writes in an e-mail statement to VG that they experienced a number of disturbances during the match, which ruined the match and made the referee’s job difficult.
– As a club, we think it is first and foremost very sad that football matches end in this way, not least considering the referee’s experience, writes the general manager of the home team.
