In the sixth round of the Europa League group stage, Romanian Cluj lost to the Swiss Young Boys (1: 2).
Until the 90th minute, Cluj was leading 1: 0 and this result allowed them to reach the 1/16 finals of the LE. But the referee decided to remove the team goalkeeper Christian Balgradyan and set a penalty, which Young Boys converted. Three minutes later the guests scored the winning goal.
Balgradyan criticized the referee after the game Benoit Bastien.
“The referee threw us out of the Europa League because we are Romanians, apparently. We are too small a team. They probably wanted Switzerland to go further, I don’t know,” Belgradean in an interview journalist Emanuel Roche.
Note that Cluj played in Group A of the Europa League. Roma made it to the first place in the playoffs, and Young Boys from the second.
