At the Red Cross, the health crisis has cut the wings of many employees, especially for first aid missions.
Indeed, the mandatory annual training having been stopped due to health measures, the first aiders already in place could not renew their diplomas, causing a drop in motivation and the total abandonment of their participation.
The Montluçon Red Cross in five questions
Lack of trainers
The cessation of training for a long period also caused a lack of trainers. A vicious circle that completely blocked the turnover necessary for the proper functioning of this sector.
This vacuum is felt at the national level. It is exacerbated within small local units, which are quickly destitute when volunteers are scarce.
However, beyond a commitment of conviction, Jean-Michel Fontanella, president of the local unit of Montluçon, wants to be reassuring:
Here, it’s a membership without constraint, you have to come with us to make the world more beautiful!

What advantages?
The training costs entirely borne by the association and the insurance of coverage in the event of an accident are obviously not insignificant points, but not only.
For Sylvie Delage, treasurer and head of the cloakroom, the good atmosphere within the team is a real joy that brings good things every day and allows you to be a main player in the race towards altruism and the sharing that knows our company.
Everyone is useful, for the less athletic who would like to get involved, the Red Cross has a long list of missions to fill, such as secretarial work, IT or even communication.

Helping others: a real vocation
For Andrea, 18, helping others is a necessity. With two parents who are doctors, Andrea was in a good school to learn altruism.
In addition, the first aid training, supported by the Red Cross, echoes his professional project.
This young girl who wants to become a nurse likes to help those in need.
While many young people are afraid to give up their free time, Andrea is convinced that volunteering is a daily necessity.
For her, small gestures are sometimes the most important. “Yesterday at school, some were unwell, it’s sad to see that almost no one knows how to react in these cases. »
Andrea is therefore not only committed to the Red Cross. She wishes bring his stone to the building for a society that is more open and more able to help others.
A desire that many share today, without necessarily daring to take the plunge.
So the young woman has only one answer to these doubts: it is always more pleasant to feel useful than to do nothing.
