The rectors of the three Galician public universities coincide. There is no other possible scenario. They say it in the SER, where they have returned to demand more funds from the Feijóo government. Now that they continue negotiating the new financing plan, they explain that without more resources, the future of teaching and research is compromised.
The rector of USC, Antonio López, indicated that “it is a need for more resources” and noted that we are at a time “in which science and research are essential pieces.” “That has to have an impact on the University,” he said.
It is a unanimous claim by the three rectors who also warn that without these funds they will not be able to compete internationally with other universities.
The rector of the University of Vigo, Manuel Reigosa, pointed out that “having to continue with this limited path of resources, it will be very difficult to compete with other universities outside Galicia.”
The start of the course will still be marked by the pandemic. The seven Galician campuses are preparing for a return to the classrooms in person. The head of the University of A Coruña, Julio Abalde, stated that “the aim is to recover the maximum interaction between teachers and students, and that the classrooms are a place for the exchange of social relations and knowledge”
