World number 3 Dominic Thiem won his first big trophy this season and the Austrian has now won another title for himself. Thiem was named Austrian Sportsman of the Year, reflecting his rise to the top ranks of the game.

“I’m happy to be in tune with the big guys. The names among the winners … to be here now is a great honor for me. ” he said.
The 27-year-old, who won the US Open, will then play in the ATP final. Thiem has just left the quarter-finals in Vienna, where he struggled with a blister on his right foot in his defeat to eventual winner Andrey Rublev.
Thiem later retired from the Paris Masters, but has since resumed training on the field.
“It took me two or three days to recover, and then I prepared for the final in London,” said Thiem in an entry on its official website.
Now in London, Thiem will try to build on his 2019 performance at the O2 Arena. Last year Thiem prevailed against Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer in the group stage before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last tie to narrowly miss the crown. The year-end event starts on Sunday.
