The recommendations of the High Council of Public Health for the end of year celebrations

The HCSP stresses that it is important to space out the positioning of the guests and to distribute them by age groups or by family household during meals.

While the end of year celebrations begin this Thursday evening with Christmas Eve, vigilance must be in order. Due to the still very strong circulation of the coronavirus in the country, the health authorities stress that respect for social distancing as well as several instructions remains essential.

Barrier gestures

In a document published in early December, the High Council of Public Health detailed the right actions to adopt in the coming days in order to guard against Covid-19. As a first step, this publication recalls that “the indicators are maintained at a high level” in France and that the circulation of the coronavirus is expected to “increase again in the coming weeks in France.”

Among the advice given, the HSCP underlines that it is a question of establishing “a gauge of diners (between 6 and 10 adults) within a dwelling or a place of gathering”, although this recommendation is complicated to be put in place due to several factors, including surface area or ventilation capacity.

Avoid groupings

In addition, it is therefore advisable to avoid family and friendly reunions. If necessary, virological tests should be carried out with the result as close as possible to these groupings, which would ideally be repeated in order to cover the incubation period. In addition, it is also stipulated that a negative test does not exempt barrier gestures.

With regard to meals, the HCSP considers it important to space out the positioning of the guests and to distribute them by age groups or by family household. Logically, reducing the time spent at the table is also advisable, as is the ban on changing cutlery. Buffets are also not recommended.
