In 2022, Noël Ghironi, 25, was sentenced by the Grenoble Criminal Court in particular for having multiplied malicious telephone calls to his former partner. A sentence accompanied by a formal ban on contacting her.
However, between February 1 and June 12, 2023, the latter was regularly awakened in the middle of the night by phone calls which only hinted at distressing breathing.
151 calls to be precise, which the gendarmes were able to assign to seven different numbers linked to false names and which had the common point of activating one of the relays covering the Grenoble-Varces penitentiary center. “And which they established that they also regularly called your mother and your new girlfriend”, underlines the president of the criminal court before which Noël Ghironi appeared again this Monday August 21 to answer for the same facts.
She recognizes his voice after he badly hung up
The victim, who suspected that this harassment was the work of his “ex”, also saw his suspicions confirmed by recognizing his voice on a voice message when the latter spoke to his fellow prisoner… after having hung up badly .
If he denied the facts in police custody, the defendant finally recognized them in court: “I assume. It was I who called her… to put an end to our relationship and tell her that I had a new girlfriend. But I was blocked, I couldn’t speak, ”explains the man who claims to have never had bad intentions.
“And how did you imagine she felt when she could receive up to ten calls a night?” “, asks the president who continues, incredulous: “If I summarize, you called her 151 times to tell her that you forgot her… With telephones that you obviously do not have the right to hold in prison. While you were forbidden to get in touch with her and she no longer wanted to hear from you…”.
“He is laughing at us”
An explanation that also leaves the representative of the public prosecutor “perplexed”. “Call your “ex” 151 times to tell her that we are very happy not to think about her anymore… By taking great care to use prepaid cards so that the calls are hidden… He makes fun of us”, supports- she, recalling the four entries in the criminal record of the defendant who, moreover, is currently indicted for attempted murder. And to request against him two years in prison including six months probationary suspension of two years, with prohibition of contact with the victim, to appear at his home and the obligation to compensate him and to work.
A sentence deemed “excessive” by the defendant’s lawyer, Me Grégoire De Petiville, who attributes these numerous telephone calls to a “fixed idea linked to idleness during his detention” and invokes the “fragility” of his client, as well as his “difficulty, at the time, to accept the breakup. But it has evolved a lot, ”he says, asking for leniency from the court.
The latter finally sentenced him to eight months’ imprisonment with continued detention with a ban on entering into contact with the victim and not appearing at his home.
