the recap ‘of ascents and descents among Normandy enthusiasts

The 2019-2020 season will have been very short for Norman amateur footballers. Between the severe weather and the epidemic of Covid-19, most teams will have played just over half of their league games. Since this Thursday, we know that season will not resume from District to National 2, but that it will not not “white” however.

The French Football Federation has, in fact, decided to maintain accessions and demotions according to a point / match report system. It is a question of not penalizing the teams which would have disputed less matches than their adversaries. However, in our rainy region, this is the case in practically all divisions.

The League of Normandy to meet next week to truly ascend and descend, as gray areas remain, in particular due to commissions relating to the statutes of arbitration. Pending the full validation of the regional authority, we took out the calculators and determined what should be clubs promoted or relegated to regional divisions.

National championships (N2 and N3)

In National 2, the FC Rouen bit his fingers. Leader until the beginning of February, the Haut-Norman club just missed the climb to National 1, in the favor of Saint Brieuc. At the bottom of the championship, Oissel finishes penultimate and descends into the lower division.

In National 3, it’s all good for the Stade Malherbe Caen reserve. Intractable from the start of the season, Fabrice Vandeputte’s team is crowned champion and finds the fourth national level for the first time since 2013. At the bottom of the ranking, it is the descent for Gonfreville-l’Orcher and Pacy-Ménilles, probably also for Grand-Quevilly who could suffer from Oissel’s relegation, but that is not a certainty at the moment.

The regional championships (R1, R2 and R3)

The situation is special in Regional 1 where the champions of the two groups (A and B) are unable to access the upper floor. Indeed, both first in the ranking, the reserves of FC Rouen and US Granville cannot progress in L3 if their pennant team plays in L2. This benefits Bayeux and Romilly.

There would be a form of logic for the Calvados club, leader of its pool of R1. In regards to Romilly, it’s a little surprise because the club was 3rd at the end of competitions but having played fewer matches than its main competitor the US Mesnil-Esnard Franqueville, it ends up 2nd after applying the calculation of the quotient points taken / games played. However, the USMEF could still enter N3 as the second best of the two pools. The League will have to decide.

On the downhill side, the FFF recommends only one relegation per level. In R1, if this were the case, theAS Pavilly and theUS Ducey Isigny would save their skin but not JS Dover and AS Madrillet Château Blanc, downgraded to R2.

Big leagues of 13 or 14 teams?

Here is the summary of ascents and descents for the championships of Regional 2 (4 groups) and Regional 3 (10 groups):

Relegations: CSVilledieu, AS Potigny, JS Saint Nicolas d’Aliermont Béthune, FC Eure Madrie Seine

Best second: ASVillers-Houlgate and US Bolbec (these two clubs could be drafted if the League decided to train pools of R1 to 14 teams rather than 13)

Relegations: E de Tocqueville, AS Brecey, JS Colleville, Muance FC, AS Berd’huis, Ol. Havrais Tréfileries Neiges, Grand-Couronne FC, AS Ouville, FC Bonsecours, US Gasny,

The feminine corner

Premiere of pool A of D2, the girls of Le Havre AC should discover the D1 Arkéma next season, thanks to a better quotient than its AS Saint-Etienne counterpart, group B champion. Leader of R1, Evreux must, in principle compete in the play-offs to possibly access the anteroom of the elite but the competitions are stopped and the FFF has visibly not decided yet on this point there.

Finally, in R2, SM Caen is crowned champion (unlike the general goal at the expense of Foot 50) and will evolve next year at the highest regional level.
