The Rebirth of Băile Lipova Resort: From Ruin to Glory

A resort in Transylvania, once favored by the Royal House of Romania, has been reborn and is about to return to its former glory. It is currently included in the holiday itineraries of many Europeans.

Only a decade ago, the Băile Lipova resort seemed to have a sad fate, as it had become a ruin. Today it has been revived as in its glory days and has a European level campsite, and tourists from all over Europe include it in their holiday itineraries.

How the resort was reborn, now

Baile Lipova resort has been reborn from its own ashes

Only 3 kilometers from the town of Lipova, located near Podgoria Aradului, is the Băile Lipova resort, which has experienced a spectacular development. The resort has an unusual story. Its mineral water was discovered by shepherds at the beginning of the 19th century. It is credited by scientists with certain qualities, which is preserved for at least 6 months. During all this time, the water keeps its taste fresh and fine.

The Royal House drinks Lipova mineral water exclusively

In the interwar period, the Royal House of Romania consumed only the mineral water from Lipova. The resort was built over 100 years ago, near the springs with mineral water, which were used in specialized medical treatments. Unfortunately, in the first years after the Revolution, the resort shared the fate of other Romanian destinations and fell into disrepair.

The Băile Lipova resort has a rich history

Although no one was giving it a chance, Lipova was revitalized by a Romanian investor. Constantin Milos. He found that he could no longer rehabilitate the old pavilions and rebuilt the tourist infrastructure, following the Hungarian model of thermal baths. He emphasized the recreational side and built a European-level campsite. It includes excellently equipped bungalows, a beach with thermal water popular among tourists, 3 terraces, conference rooms with over 500 seats.

The miracle-working icon from Radna

Very close to the resort, after passing Mureş, is the Maria Radna Catholic Monastery. It was the first church built in Radna, in 1520. In 1695 it was burned by the Turks. Legend has it that only one miracle-working icon escaped the fire untouched. The current church was built in 1756, its towers rising to the sky up to 67 meters.

The Băile Lipova resort is steeped in history

After 1990, the pilgrimages to Saint Mary resumed, stormed by thousands of people. Services are held in several languages, including Romanian.

Behind the church, a Way of the Cross was set up, climbed by the faithful on the great Christian holidays.

The Wine Road will be rebuilt with European funds

The Arad Vineyard area will experience accelerated development thanks to the projects funded by Brussels. Thus, the Wine Route will be rebuilt with European money, including the infrastructure. The total value of the project is almost 57 million lei, of which the non-refundable amount amounts to over 46 million lei. The project will last a total of 32 months.

Included in this project is Miniş, the place where the famous Cadarca red wine is produced, awarded in many competitions. Here there is one of the most modern wine-making stations in Eastern Europe, but also a modern guest house, which has the shape of a wine barrel. Through European funds, a viticultural reconversion program will also be started, namely the replanting of the aging surfaces from Miniş. Tourists can actively participate in the picking of the vine and the production of the wine.
