In this new season, we will meet the character of Abby who will be played by Kaitlyn Dever (‘Super empollonas’, ‘Creedme’), and Dina, played by Isabela Merced (known for ‘Dora the Explorer’, ‘Madame Web’ and ‘Alien: Romulus’).
It was Merced who, on Josh Horowitz’s podcast ‘Happy Sad Confused’, revealed that extra security measures had to be hired to protect Dever: «There are some very strange people in this world. There are people who really hate Abby, who is not a real person. Kaitlyn had to have extra security to film this.“, revealed.
The actress, of Peruvian origin, has made it clear that Dever “is not affected by these things”: “He really has his head in the right place.even though she is personally going through a lot right now,” she said, adding that the actress lost her mother last February to breast cancer.

Where does the controversy come from?
The choice of Dever to play Abby was harshly criticised by fans of the video game, who argued that she does not have a physique similar to that of the fictional character. “They have removed Abby’s muscles”, “Denver as Abby is an insult to muscular girls who train and are not stereotypical” or “a non-muscular Abby takes away the meaning of the film” are just some of the comments that can be read on the internet.
Furthermore, it seems that there are people who cannot separate fiction from reality: “Remember that she is a real person and not a fictional character. She is not responsible for the acts committed by her character. Leave her alone,” wrote one user on Instagram.
