Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S22 series in three regular Galaxy S22 models, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Samsung broke its tradition in Indonesia by presenting the Galaxy S22 series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Unlike the previous Samsung flagships that subscribed to the Exynos chipset.
Verry Octavianus, Product Marketing Manager Mobile Experience at Samsung Electronics Indonesia (SEIN) said Samsung understands and listens to the wishes of consumers in Indonesia who want a Samsung flagship cellphone with a Snapdragon chipset.
“To complete the consumer experience, we are back again listening to consumers who have been waiting, why not Snapdragon,” said Verry in the Galaxy S22 QnA Session which was held virtually.
“This time we present (Galaxy S22 series) with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so that it can provide maximum innovation, performance and also the camera,” continued Verry.
On a separate occasion, Verry also explained that the scarcity of chips was also one of the reasons for using Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in Samsung’s flagship line. The chipset is considered to be the right choice for the Indonesian market.
“Because the chipset market is experiencing a shortage in 2021, then in 2022. After consulting with the center, we think (Snapdragon) is the right choice for Indonesia. In other regions, but there are also those who use Exynos (2200),” explained Verry.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 offers a 20-30 percent improvement over the previous Exynos chip (Exynos 2100) and is comparable to the Exynos 2200 which is also used by the Galaxy S22 series.
Apart from Indonesia, other regions that have received the Galaxy S22 series with Snapdragon chips include the majority of Southeast Asia, North America, South America, East Asia, Oceania, West Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
While the Galaxy S22 Exynos 2200 variant will be marketed in West Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Dominikus Susanto, Senior Manager, Business Development, Qualcomm Indonesia, said that Qualcomm is proud that Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has entered Indonesia, for the first time with Samsung.
“This is a flagship product that has always been a benchmark for the smartphone industry, an aspiration for consumers who always want the Galaxy S series,” he added.
