Jakarta –
PT Liga Indonesia (LIB) prohibits clubs Shopee Liga 1 2020 travel by airplane. Instead, they will provide two buses for each club.
Shopee Liga 1 will be held non-stop without a break in the competition from 1 October 2020-28 February 2021. All clubs may only take the bus during the competition.
PT LIB is well aware of the complaints of clubs which say they are reluctant to take the bus to travel while on an away match. One of them Persib Bandung who worried that his team trip would take a lot of time.
Persib’s complaint makes sense. Their furthest away game will be against Persebaya Surabaya which is headquartered at Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo. The trip from Bandung to Sidoarjo can take up to a dozen hours.
“Indeed, there are some protest clubs (about long trips by bus). Surely tens of matches will take a long time to travel,” said PT LIB President Director Akhmad Hadian Lukita to reporters.
“The recovery must also be longer, but ground transportation is the most adequate of health protocols and schedules. That’s what we hope for the club,” he added.
In fact, PT LIB has explored efforts to cooperate with aircraft airlines to accommodate complaints from clubs. For example, asking the airline to provide aircraft specifically intended for long trips to Shopee League 1 clubs.
But in the end it was not followed up. PT LIB considers relying on aircraft in the midst of a pandemic is a very risky thing.
“We see that air transportation has not been stable. Because if you take a plane, it could be that planes for certain cities will not even have flights, this will affect the schedule (of competition),” said Akhmad Hadian.
