TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – PT Farm cables Tbk (Kalbe) and PT Amarox Global Pharma (Amarox) officially lowered the price of the antiviral drug Remdesivir (with the trade name Covifor) which is used for the treatment of Covid-19 in Indonesia. From the original price of IDR 3 million per vial to IDR 1.5 million per vial.
“We agreed to provide a special selling price for the Covifor drug,” said Kalbe Farma President Director Vidjongtius in an official statement in Jakarta, Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Prices were lowered after listening to input from the government, healthcare professionals and patients in recent days. In addition, prices have fallen because of the growing need for Covid-19 treatment.
Amarox Country Manager, Sandeep Sur, also said that Hetero was aware of the widespread impact of the pandemic, especially regarding the cost burden for the government and patients. “So Hetero is providing more support and providing a special Covifor price for Indonesia,” he said.
Previously on October 1, 2020, Kalbe and Amarox officially announced their collaboration to launch Covifor or Remdesivir. Amarox is a subsidiary of Hetero, India’s leading genetic pharmaceutical company and the world’s largest producer of antiretroviral drugs.
