The real reason behind Meghan’s absence was revealed by Scobie in his book Endgame. He confirmed that sources close to the duchess were partly right and Meghan wanted to take care of her children, especially when little Archie had a birthday. However, they hid another reason, the newspaper pointed out Daily Mirror.
“The truth is actually that the probability of the Duchess attending the coronation was low,” said one source close to the royal family. According to the new book, the real reason was simple. She didn’t want to go back to the “royal court soap opera”.
“It’s one thing to attend the funeral of the late Queen out of respect for Her Majesty, but it’s quite another to attend the start of a new monarch,” a source close to Meghan explained her decision.
