It’s been several months since Lazar Samardzic was one step away from wearing the Inter shirt, but new backgrounds still emerge. The midfielder had undergone a medical in Milan and all that was missing was his signature, but then nothing came of it. And only now does the detail that would have ruined the deal emerge.
Inter transfer market, the background on Samardzic’s failure to land
The parties had reached an agreement: Inter would have paid 4.5 million euros of a costly loan to Udinese with the transfer of Fabbian (who later went to Bologna) to the Bianconeri with redemption obligation set at 16 million and another 2 in bonuses. When everything seemed done, however, the case relating to the commissions of the operation and the salary broke out. On 11 August Inter had agreed to meet Mladen, the player’s father, but when asked to change the agreements previously reached with Pimenta, the club immediately said no. A confrontation continued until 13 August when the player returned to Udine. The contacts continued until August 14th, with Inter meeting on the 16th announced his resignation from the player complete with a final comment from Nerazzurri CEO Marotta who explained: “In the negotiations with Samardzic, seriousness and respect for roles was somewhat lacking. Today the players tell you yes, tomorrow they tell you no because they are guided by the agents.”
Samardzic thus remained in Udine, with Juventus sporting director Balzaretti at Veneto Messenger has explained: “Lazar has experienced a complicated but very important season for his growth. If he doesn’t play it’s a technical choice. In terms of characteristics he recalls Pjanic“.
