Many customers are disappointed after standing in line but failing to get their ordered ice cream. A worker at McDonald’s reveals the reason for the ice cream machine that is ‘always broken’.
Have you ever stood in a long line to buy ice cream at a fast food restaurant but ended up being disappointed? Usually when they can’t serve ice cream, restaurant workers will call their ice cream machine broken.
This statement will certainly make some customers disappointed because they have wasted time on orders that don’t exist. But not a few customers caught restaurant workers serving ice cream.

A worker from McDonald’s Illinois, United States of America, said that there was actually an answer behind the reason for the broken ice cream machine. Not because it can’t function, but there are several other factors that hinder the production of ice cream.

The Daily Mail (2/7) reported tweets by Sarah Vaught, a former McDonald’s Illinois manager, regarding an ice cream machine that is always broken. Sarah said that one of the reasons they couldn’t serve ice cream was because it took a long time to clean the machines.
To clean the ice cream machine, the workers have to take it apart part by part to make sure all the gaps are perfectly clean. This longer time to clean the ice cream machine even has to be done before the restaurant closes.
This was also confirmed by a former McDonald’s employee. A Twitter account named @MichaelZyzzi reveals the secret of the restaurant’s kitchen with the clown logo.
“As a former McDonald’s employee actually the ice cream machine always worked great but it took us so long to clean it that going to tell everyone it broke hahaha,” wrote Zyzzi.

The tweet apparently invited various responses from netizens. Many have asked McDonald’s workers to be honest that the machines are being cleaned or the ice cream shop has closed.
Another former worker also said that if you want to order a McFlurry or other ice cream menu, try not to order it 30 minutes before the restaurant closes. The workers are reluctant to risk the floor getting dirty again just because of the ice cream.
“If someone came in 30 minutes before closing and ordered a McFlurry, would you risk smearing the whole room with ice cream even after you cleaned it up?” replied Courtney Bunting as a former McDonald’s employee.
As a consultant for fast food restaurant outlets in England, Richard Adams said that the ice cream machine at McDonald’s was only reported to be broken once a year. Responding to this debate, McDonald’s also said to the Mirror that it apologized because their ice cream machine had to be cleaned every 24 hours.
