Zanziman Ellie has been called the “real Mowgli” thanks to a documentary about his life released on YouTube in 2021.
The young man received this nickname due to a comparison with the story of Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, in the classic Disney film The Jungle Book.
In the documentary, Zanziman is seen in the forest, eating grass and bananas with wild animals.

Ellie was forced to run away from home after cruel bullies made his life miserable because of his appearance. He was also known as “monkey”.
He suffers from a condition called microcephaly, where a baby is born with a much smaller head than normal.

However, his life changed when a film crew came to an African country to record a documentary that reunited him with his family.
Now 25 years old, Zanziman was unknown when he last appeared in the media.
Afrimax TV reporters set up a GoFundMe page, which received several donations from around the world. This allowed Zanziman and his mother to build a new life together. The 2022 film shows Ellie in her school uniform and enjoying home life with her mother. His mother insists his remarkable transformation is nothing short of a “miracle”.

Donations were used to send him to a school for children with special needs at the Ubumwe Community Center in Rwanda. His mother said: “God is a wonderful worker of a house… He took my grief away.”
In their new home, Zanziman has his own bedroom. Mom and son are also surprised that they have a television. “We used to live in an old house that could fall down at any moment. I never thought that my wishes would come true. The house has everything it needs this is home at this house. This is heaven on earth.
