The Herbin House, it is a jam maker installed in Menton since 1975. Over the years, this small producer has become an emblem of the city, yet has managed to keep its authentic, traditional side… And above all, convivial!
At each of our visits, we appreciate the opportunity to visit the workshop to discover the entire process of making jams. The explanations of Nicole Bineau, member of the founding family of the house, are always fascinating.
But you know, we are very greedy and what we love most of all is the taste of these delicious jams.
Herbin jams have the particularity of being cooked and simmered the old-fashioned way, in small quantities. These experienced jam makers favor a delicate preparation in copper basins, ideal for preserving the natural taste of the fruit.
For the most classic: strawberry, tangerine or lemon jam (from Menton, of course). Or fancy eggplant and ginger tomatoes, or even honey and lemon mustards, for new taste associations so dear to this house.
So don’t miss out on these flavors, because as Nicole says so poetically:
“Jam is a story of sugar, pot and wooden spoon that must be assembled intelligently and according to a particular ritual in order to obtain an authentic and tasty product that awakens the taste buds.…”
