The plot, which revolves around a building manager with unconventional methods, captured the attention of the audience for its mix of humor, drama and unexpected twists. In turn, the interpretation of the renowned Argentine actor received praise for his ability to bring to life such a complex and enigmatic character. However, in recent days, the production also generated controversy, since It was learned that the Basurto family, whose surname is used by the protagonist in the fiction, showed their discontent at being involved in the show’s narrative, facing awkward situations due to this coincidence.
In an interview with Juan Etchegoyen in Mitre Live, The real Eliseo Basurto broke the silence and revealed what has happened to him since the successful series premiered. “We are not a media family at all and all this makes us feel bad; and it is as you said, We received attacks with this character that was created in the series The Caretaker”he began by saying. He also clarified: “The issue is the following: when the first season was made, we communicated and told Disney that we were directly affected by what the character is because of our last name, People have been harassing us on the street since the fiction began and they treat us like bad people, they associate the character with us”.

The man also revealed that he tried several times to change the last name, but to no avail: “This strip, for some, may be comical and funny, but the character is internally disastrous and worthless. At the time, we demanded that the platform remove the last name and put another one. We had to isolate ourselves because everyone associates us with the character and sees us in a bad light. We are not looking for financial gain or anything, we are not looking for money and we just want to clear our name and the platform never answered us.”.
“We want our last name to disappear from the series, that is the request. On top of that, in the second and third seasons, it doubles down, we see what it produces and we don’t get a response. It’s a very watched series because it reaches everywhere, it goes through everything,” he explained, making it clear that both he and his family are tired of the attacks they receive.
Her request is to stop using her name in the series, but she gets no response to her complaint.
Regarding the impact of the series, Eliseo Basurto said: “People on the street have told me ‘a criminal, a bad person, all the managers must be like that guy’. And I also want to tell you that we are not the only ones affected, there is another Basurto family that we know is also going through the same thing.” Also, visibly distressed, he lamented: “In this time, everything has happened to me. A person on the street even threw his dog’s waste on me, imagine that. They threw the dog’s needs and a lot of other things at me, they shout everything at you on the street.”
“I feel bad when I remember that, it affected us a lot and it’s inexplicable. I’m not a media person and I don’t look for the media, all I want is peace for my family. If they don’t take the Basurto surname off Francella’s character, Unfortunately we will have to take action and I am not looking for that, but if we do not find the solution, we will do that.”he commented, highlighting the bad moment he is going through, and to close he sentenced: “I traveled to Argentina a few days ago for this particular issue and I have already returned to Spain. I had to disappear from social networks because of the amount of insults I received, I had to isolate myself and now I am slowly returning. If they do not take charge, they will have to pay the consequences.”.
