The Reading Prize 2023 – The Nominees: German City Day

Between April 1st and June 30th, individuals, institutions, day-care centers and schools could apply for the German Reading Prize. The initiators, the Reading Foundation and the Commerzbank Foundation, award innovative and proven reading promotion measures in six different categories with the individual category sponsors. The submissions were reviewed in the summer of that year. After the jury’s decision, the nominations have now been announced. The German Reading Prize will be awarded in March 2023.

The shortlist for the German Reading Prize 2023 includes 50 projects and people in five categories. They were selected from around 400 applications from all over Germany. In addition, the Commerzbank Foundation awards the special prize for prominent commitment to a public figure.

The German Reading Prize, endowed with a total of 25,000 euros, is a joint initiative of the Reading Foundation and the Commerzbank Foundation and has been awarded since 2013 for exemplary commitment to the promotion of reading. It is under the patronage of Claudia Roth, Minister of State for Culture and Media, and is supported by Arnulf Betzold GmbH, Minister of State for Culture and Media, the German TV Lottery, the German Association of Cities, FRÖBEL eV and the PwC Foundation.
