The re-election of Emmanuel Macron is terrible for the British. But they would not have been happier with Marine Le Pen

The English love France – simply without the French. The presidential election has once again confirmed this cliché.

With Emmanuel Macron, you’ve had a really bad time over the past five years. “The Europhile”, they call him derogatory. During the Brexit negotiations, he was one of the agitators in the EU who, as is well known, did not want to accommodate the British.

In the fisheries dispute, Macron did not hesitate to have military boats turn up to protect French cutters poaching in British waters. And from London’s point of view, the Canal refugee crisis is unresolved solely because of the French.

In addition, Prime Minister Johnson and President Macron personally share a deep dislike. So now it’s another five years with this annoying guy.

But anyone who thinks that the British would have been happier with Marine Le Pen is wrong.

The failed candidate may be so critical of the EU, but she has not found acceptance on the island. Because it was primarily perceived as “nationalistic” and fickle.

So did the conservative Daily Mail funny about her because she first spoke out in favor of a headscarf ban and then again against it.

To the Daily Telegraph dreaded having to do business with such a “nationalist” who, moreover, would spend money like a socialist.

The comment culminated in the recognition that Marine Le Pen is a “national socialist”.

If she finds this etiquette a slur, she would be spot on.
