Since Sunday, August 4, the implementation of the so-called ‘Tasa Netflix’ to digital services and with this, close to 600 companies offering benefits for paid subscriptions will have to start paying a general sales tax (IGV).

This will directly affect the price of streaming services such as Netflix, Prime, Max, YouTube Premium, Disney+, Apple TV+among others that have paid subscription versions such as Spotify, Apple Music, and even dating apps, such as Tinder y Bumble.

In an interview with RPPholder of the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (circumcision)Gerardo López assured that this would only affect those companies that do not have headquarters in Peru, since those that operate in national territory already incorporate the VAT in the prices paid by the general public who use their services.

The incorporation of the VAT for the payment of these applications will be carried out from the month of October, so an increase in the price of these subscriptions can be expected. At the moment there is no official price established by the companies, but if the amounts paid by users as of August 7, 2024 are considered, the new prices would be the following:

Netflix

• Basic: from 24.90 soles per month to 29.38 soles per month.
• Standard: from 34.90 soles per month to 41.18 soles per month.
• Premium: from 44.90 soles per month to 52.98 per month.

Spotify

• Individual: of 20.90 soles, to 24.66 soles per month.
• Students: from 11.90 soles to 14.04 soles per month.
• Duo: from 26.90 soles to 31.74 soles per month.
• Familiar: from 32.90 soles to 37.45 soles per month.

Amazon Prime Video

• Standard: from 19.0 soles to 22.42 soles per month.

Disney+

• Basic: from 27.90 soles to 32.92 soles per month.
• Yearly: from 279.90 soles to 330.28 soles per year.
• Disney+ and Star+ Combo: from 49.0 soles to 58.88 soles per month.

Max (formerly known as HBO Max)

• Basic plan: from 29.90 soles to 35.28 soles per month.
• Three months: from 79.90 soles to 94.28 every three months.
• Yearly: from 254.90 soles to 300.78 soles per year.

YouTube Premium

• Individual: from 20.90 soles per month to 24.66 soles per month.
• Familiar: from 31.90 soles per month to 37.64 soles per month (up to 5 people).
• Students: from 12.50 soles per month to 14.75 soles per month.

Apple TV+:

• Standard: from 24.90 soles per month to 29.38 soles per month.

Cons:

• Standard: from 29.90 soles per month to 35.28 soles per month.
• Annual standard: from 226.80 soles per year to 267.94 soles per year.
• Students: from 18.90 soles per month to 22.30 soles per month.

These prices only apply to personal subscription for regular use. Prices for seminars and additional rooms can be consulted directly with the company’s sales team.
