the rate changes, up to 70 euros the “full” of an electric!

Customers of current and future European electric vehicles can ask questions about charging on long journeys. The Ionity network has just thrown a block in their face by announcing a change in pricing: now, full will no longer be a flat rate of eight euros, but a rate per kWh, billed 0.79 cents.

It’s very simple, the “full” of a Porsche Taycan of 90 kWh will be worth around € 70 on the Ionity terminals. And knowing that it will be roughly possible to do between 200 and 300 km on the highway at 130 km / h with the German, do the math ….

These terminals were however developed by a consortium of European manufacturers to try to offer an alternative to Tesla’s network, the Superchargers. Except that for the latter, the price is 0.24 cts / kWh … And even free when offers over several months for early customers in Model S and X.

For the managers of Ionity, the price is justified by two things: the presence of terminals on the motorway (these sites are expensive) and above all the power of a station, of around 1.2 MW, which will theoretically allow several vehicles to charge at least 200 kW, when the power of the Tesla terminals drops much more when there are two vehicles per terminal.

Despite everything, this price may very well go wrong with current and future owners who counted on this network and who have not opted for a Tesla …
