The Rasmus band’s recent Instagram post is sparking discussion on social media.

The band published a black picture on their account with the words RIP (Rest in peace) in purple text, meaning “rest in peace”. Below the text is the date October 25th.

The post has sparked speculations about whether the band will release a song called RIP on Friday next week, or whether the band will perhaps announce that they are quitting at that time. The confusing update divides opinion in the comments section of the post.

– You are scaring people! I hope it’s a new song.

– I almost had a panic attack. Say this is a new song.

– Now I’m scared.

– Bad timing for the title considering Liam Paynen death news, one says, referring to the 31-year-old singer of One Direction, who was found dead on Wednesday after falling from the third floor of a hotel.

Iltalehti reached out to Playground Music’s A&R Ninni Wetterstrandinwho could not comment on the subject for the time being. He just asked the fans to wait patiently, as the subject would be revealed in more detail.

Front view of The Rasmus Lauri Ylönen said a day earlier on the band’s Instagram account that they have a big announcement coming this week. In addition to Ylö, the band’s current members include Aki Hakala, Eero Heinonen and Emppu Suhonen.

Founded in 1994, The Rasmus made a comeback in 2022 when the band won New Music competition with his piece Jezebel. With the win, the band represented Finland at the Turin Eurovision Song Contest. The Rasmus finished 21st in the final of the competition.

In the same year, the band released Rise-album, but no new music has been heard from the same band. The band’s hits include, among others In the Shadows, No Fear, F-F-F-Falling and Livin’ in a World Without You.
