Although in Germany you can meet classic American cars much less often than you would see a classic Mercedes or a Porsche, it still happens that jewels shine that inevitably attract attention. And one such gem, called the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, now on sale in Hamburg, recalls an era when American cars had huge V8 engines, but delivered ridiculously low power, comparable to what a 1-cylinder engine would deliver today. 4-1.5 liter turbo a little more forced or a more relaxed 2.0 liter.
The Oldsmobile brand is generally forgotten by many car enthusiasts, because it has not existed for a long time and only in movies can you see an Oldsmobile with imposing shapes, parading through the streets, and much more real in real life.
And we are talking here about the 4th generation of Cutlass Supreme, produced between 1977 and 1988. This car had a long career in its time, being a kind of dinosaur already towards the end of its period, when the American models were already switched to traction front in the 80s, and this model still had rear-wheel drive.
The car we’re talking about today is a coupe, and coupes had a totally distinct face compared to sedans, much more imposing and sharp. But this visual presence was supported only by the beautiful, baritone sound of the 5.0-liter V8 under the hood, not by its power, which only made 180 hp. So, about 36 hp per liter of displacement!
However, the pleasure of idling this car and making use of the high torque of more than 300 Nm, in tandem with its sound, sometimes compensates for the lack of numerical power. And the owner of this copy took care to ensure an exhaust system, which highlights its sound, and the rims taken as if from a drag racing race accentuate the tight appearance of this Oldsmobile.
However, the owner left the original engine, as well as the whole essence of the car. He says that in the year when the car was manufactured, 1984, only 3,000 such coupes were produced, and he once imported it from the USA, from Alabama. And for 5 years now he has been enjoying it, appearing at exhibitions with it and sometimes driving it on the roads of Germany.
Apparently, the car does not have many kilometers covered in 39 years. Only 71 thousand miles, the equivalent of about 114 thousand km.

And the asking price for this classic Oldsmobile, with a V8 engine, is 28,500 euros. And the German who now owns it in Hamburg guarantees that such a car is an absolute rarity in Europe.
