The North Korean leader, Kim Jong-unsent a congratulatory message to the Russian president, Vladimir Putinfor his investiture for a fifth term at the head of the Kremlinin the context of rapprochement between the two countries.
Kim Jong-un congratulated the Russian leader and wished him “great success in carrying out his tasks and responsibilities for Russia and its people,” according to a note published this Wednesday by the state agency KCNA, after Putin’s inauguration held in the eve in Moscow.
The North Korean dictator already congratulated Putin in mid-March after learning of the Russian president’s re-election for his fifth term, which will last until 2030, in an election in which he won with 87.32 of all votes cast.
Kim also sent another message of congratulations to Putin on the occasion of the celebration of the «Day of Victory of Russia in the Great Patriotic War»as the triumph of the then Soviet Union over the army of Nazi Germany is commemorated in that country, KCNA reported.
Kim and Putin held a summit last September at the Russian cosmodrome in Vostochnia meeting in which they agreed to expand cooperation in the military field and which certified the recent strengthening of ties between both countries.
In this context, Pyongyang has transferred thousands of containers with weapons that the Russian Army has used against Ukraine and in exchange, it is believed that Moscow advised the North Korean regime to successfully launch its first spy satellite.
Both countries have also strengthened their cooperation in areas such as food, trade, science, tourism and sports. EFE (I)
