The Rangers central defender is called up for England by the former Manchester City and Blackburn player – Rayototal

Former Premier League defender Colin Hendry suggested that Rangers defender Connor Goldson deserves a call to England.

the Forest ranger star previously played for Brighton between 2015 and 2018.

Goldson has played for the Scottish team for the past three seasons. He has always been there for them, having appeared in all competitions more than 160 times.

Celtic and Rangers must be in danger somehow

The 28-year-old played 38 times Steven GerrardThe league team last season when it helped them win the Scottish Premiership.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, Hendry, who won the Premier League with Blackburn, suggested that Goldson justified an opportunity for England:

“There are some middle halves on that England team, the Stones, Maguire, Mings and Coady, but I don’t see why Goldson couldn’t have a chance.

“It all comes down to consistency and that applies to any defensive association with any team.

“If that triangle between the goalkeeper and the centrals is not right, it could be a fight.

“From Goldson’s point of view, the temptation to return to the Premier League may be too great to resist.

“That is the ideal place for a footballer who many believe is playing in the Premier League in England, so it is a great decision for him.

Will he leave or will he stay at a nostalgic club like Glasgow Rangers?

“It will be difficult for him, but one year on his contract it will be a decision he will have to make.

“You are in the last year of your contract, but would you want to return to the Premier League and England at 28?

“Maybe he wants to try to break into the England team and would Gareth Southgate take note of what he’s doing and his promotion?

“The benchmark for Southgate may be how Goldson is doing in Europe, but for me the biggest game in the UK is Rangers against Celtic.

That’s just my belief and Goldson has played a lot of those games.

“I think if Goldson has his sights set on a move to the Premier League, he will see his contract expire.

“But Rangers is a huge club and they’ve been here for a while, it all comes down to how they feel about the situation.”
