The Lancia 037 is one of the most famous rally cars in history. The special with the engine in the middle raced in the eighties in the famous Group B, when he even won the world rally championship as the last zadokolka. Now, in their home Italy, they have decided to revive the famous special.
Behind the project simply called Evo37 is the Italian company Kimera Automobili, led by the Italian racer Luca Betti, who in the past regularly took part in the Czech Barum Rally. The creators decided to use today’s popular restomode concept, using a combination of historical foundations with modern technology.

The external appearance thus remains virtually true to the original. There is also a rough-looking face with four round headlights, which in the spirit of modern times are diode, as well as accentuated rear sides and a powerful pressure spoiler on the stern.
However, the construction basis is also modern. The body panels are no longer made of fiberglass as in the 1980s, but of carbon. The body is then also slightly longer than the original.

The concept of the drive system is also retained. The 2.1-liter supercharged four-cylinder is still stored longitudinally in the middle, as in the former 03 Evolution 2 rally. Instead of a compressor, there is a turbocharger, while the result of the new design is an output of 377 kW and a torque of 550 Nm. The original boasted up to 250 kW in the Evolution 2 version.
It goes without saying that only the rear wheels are maintained, and there is also a manual transmission. In the past, however, there was also talk of offering an ATV or sequential gearbox. Modern technology is further represented by the four-element Öhlins suspension or the available carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes.

As is often the case with restomodes, the Evo37 project is definitely not for everyone. With regard to the name of the legend, Kimera Automobili plans to build only 37 copies of this car, which will also cost 480,000 euros (over 12.2 million crowns). The public will see him live for the first time at the upcoming July Festival of Speed in Goodwood, and the first customers will see him in September.
The Lancia 037 was built on the basis of the Montecarlo model, but Abarth originally worked on it, which was to take over the rally activities of the Fiat Group according to the original plans. But that did not happen in the end. The car designed according to the rules of Group B was first used in 1982, a year later it was a title among the brands. The road version was then produced between 1982 and 1987, but it was an unloaded specialty, when only 207 pieces were created.
