The Rainy Season Arrives, People Must Anticipate DHF

KARIMATA RADIO, PAMEKASAN – Entering the rainy season is often a special concern, especially Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Prevention of the emergence of dengue disease can be done in various places, including in their respective homes.

Syaiful Rahman, SH, M.Sc., Head of the Infectious Diseases Section of the Pamekasan Health Service said that the prevention of dengue can be done through 3M+.

“These include draining bath tubs, closing water reservoirs, and burying used items around the house as well as implementing a healthy lifestyle,” he said during a talkshow at Dinamika Madura on Thursday (04/11/2021) Morning.

Mosquitoes can breed in waterlogged places including bathrooms, flower vases, etc. Then a few days later mosquito larvae can appear which can potentially become dengue fever mosquitoes.

Spraying efforts to prevent transmission of dengue fever by the local Health Office (Dinkes) can be carried out if there are 3 cases in one village.

While the first symptoms that are often felt by DHF sufferers are high fever of more than 38 degrees Celsius, red spots appear on the skin, pain in the pit of the stomach, sweaty hands and feet.

“In addition, the advanced phase that is felt by patients can experience nosebleeds, vomiting and diarrhea,” he added.

He said, if the patient has experienced these symptoms, immediately refer to the nearest health facility for quick treatment.

The first treatment that can be done to the patient is to give the patient a lot of drinking, compresses, and give fever-reducing drugs.

Syaiful Rahman appealed to the public not to litter, check for mosquito larvae regularly, and reduce the habit of hanging clothes at home.

“It is better to prevent than to treat, if you have been infected, you can immediately seek treatment,” he concluded. (Adila/Din)
