The participants of the parade set off at noon from the lower part of Wenceslas Square. The route this year led along Havířská street, in front of Ovocný trh, to Celetna and then to Staroměstská náměstí, Pařížská street, across Čechův bridge to Letenské sady. There everyone is enjoying Pride Park.
The event was also attended by politicians, famous personalities and families with children. Since this year’s theme of the festival is family, there was also a train in the parade, which was available to parents with children or people with reduced mobility.

According to police spokesman Jan Daňko, the exact number of participants cannot be determined. “Participation is similar to last year, tens of thousands of people lower,” said Daněk, adding that the police did not have to secure anyone. “Three groups of opponents were recorded on the spot, when there were verbal attacks between the participants and the opponents, but here it was enough to just supervise the situation,” noted the spokesman of the Prague police. According to estimates, around 60,000 people took part in the parade last year.
This year, the safety of festival participants is monitored by more police officers and criminal investigators than in previous years. The reason is information brought by the Slovak National Criminal Agency about a planned terrorist attack on the Rainbow Pride event, which took place last month in Slovakia.

Therefore, police officers from the anti-conflict team, first-line patrols with long weapons with ballistic protection, criminal investigators from the department of extremism and terrorism, law enforcement units and other specialists are also present.
