The Railway Authority issued a media statement in which they indicated that a tractor collided with the back of the sleeper train 1087 (power car) coming from Aswan to Cairo on the distance between Abu Qurqas and Minya, which led to the collapse of the power car and another car from the train.
Immediately, emergency equipment and cranes were deployed, the train was separated from the two cars, and the train moved to continue its journey to Cairo
The team assigned Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Business Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, Deputy Minister of Transport for Railways and Electric Traction, and the CEO of the Railway Authority to go to the site of the accident and a committee to creation of railway experts to find out the technical reasons that caused the accident.
