The railway problems in Zeeland have been partially solved, in West Brabant one more blockade

The trains between Bergen op Zoom and Vlissingen are back in operation. Rail traffic stopped after a train in Bergen op Zoom he ran inside on a bus stopped on the platform. Nobody was hurt in this.

Before reported ProRail that there would be no trains for three days between Roosendaal in West Brabant and Kruiningen-Yerseke in Zeeland. The track was severely damaged by the accident.

Due to repair work, rail traffic is already possible between Bergen op Zoom and Zeeland. Part of Bergen op Zoom station has been released, says a spokesperson for NS. The damage to the platform on the north side of the station has not yet been repaired. That is why there are still buses between Bergen op Zoom and Roosendaal. The lockdown is expected to last at least until Thursday, ProRail says.

There was no one on the bus at the time of the accident, which was stationary on the platform. The bus was not in service and the driver was standing beside the platform, still trying to warn the approaching train with swinging arms. So he was not injured, nor the staff and 85 passengers on the train.

The collision occurred at the guarded level crossing in Marconilaan. According to a spokesperson for Connexxion, the bus driver had just completed a morning shift and was driving to the parking lot with an empty bus. The bus stopped at the level crossing due to technical problems, the driver told police. Then the barriers fell and the driver said he jumped off the bus.

Police have identified the driver as a suspect, but he will not be questioned until there are results of the investigation into the cause of the accident. For example, there is a trace investigation at the collision site and a technical investigation of the bus.
