To: “Europa-Park: ICE stop in Ringsheim”, briefly reported by Klaus Fischer (politics, October 9th) and “Some cattle transport is more humane”, contribution by Michael Saurer (politics, October 24th)
From December there will be a daily ICE in Ringsheim. “Rail customers can then reach Europa-Park from the Rhine-Main area within two hours,” said the DB Group representative. At the same time, thousands are cut off from long-distance traffic. Neither ICE, IC nor EC stop in eleven major German cities. The rail company is less interested in how commuters get to work safely, on time and in an environmentally friendly manner than in getting the customers of the amusement park to their destination as quickly as possible. A sad picture also in regional traffic: Commuters and students on the Breisgau S-Bahn have to fight with unusual and overcrowded trains. It is high time to remind DB of its task of guaranteeing mobility for all rail users across the board. Reliability, also when changing, punctuality and driving comfort are the decisive criteria for people to prefer the train to the car.Susanne Glaubitz, Freiburg
