The Raid police intervened early this Friday morning in Niort, after the shots fired Tuesday from the station side. Shots that left two injured. The police arrested a suspect who was finally released, said the Niort prosecutor’s office on Saturday, confirming information from our colleagues from La Nouvelle République.
This man in his twenties spent only a few hours in police custody. Investigators suspected him of being accomplice of the alleged shooter, since he knew him. Finally, after verification, no charges have been brought against him for the moment. He would not a priori have helped the author of the shots. He therefore came out free.
The alleged shooter still wanted
The shooter is still on the loose. When the Raid arrived in one of its hideouts, it was not there, confirms the public prosecutor of Niort, Julien Wattebled. Research continues to find him. The prosecution has opened an investigation for attempted murder. As for the mobile, nothing is ruled out for the moment, investigators are studying all the leads.
