The “rage shake” arrives on Instagram: shake your smartphone in the event of a bug or crash

The Instagram social network welcomes two new features, one of which will allow you to get your nerves a little useful when the application encounters a problem. This will allow you to start the procedure for reporting a problem.

Good news, from now on you will be able to shake your smartphone when Instagram makes its own without appearing to be someone angry or impatient. The head of the social network, Adam Mosseri, has just announced the arrival of new features, including the “Rage shake” – the “shaking of anger”. If any frustration movements are detected, the app will display a pop-up message asking if something is wrong. Thus, if the app is indeed the victim of a problem, the user will be able to more easily report it to Instagram.

In other words, the app will invite users to tell it about any issues they are having while using the social network as soon as it detects shakes of anger.

Improve user experience

This addition is a way for Instagram to prioritize some bug fixes, said Adam Mosseri. “You can explain exactly what happened, how you got into this position, and all the emotions and feelings you have, and we’ll ask someone to take a look at it,” he added.

It’s hard not to see a link with the recent setbacks faced by the social network a few weeks ago. Instagram has indeed been singled out for its lack of transparency regarding the studies it conducted on the impact of its content on adolescents.

The fact that the Instagram manager encourages users to use the new feature to share their “emotions and feelings” that led them to shake their phones leaves no doubt about this.

Remove a single photo from a carousel

The other novelty announced is the possibility for users to delete a single photo from a slide show (or carousel). Until now, the only way to edit photos in a multi-post was to delete it and repost all the photos in the correct order.

To do this, simply select the photo carousel, press the three dots at the top right, then click Edit. After which, you will have to swipe to the correct photo, press the small cross and validate. Well, that’s it.

This new feature is currently only available to certain iOS users, but it should soon be rolled out to all users. The same goes for the Rage Shake function.
