After opening the scoring and leading twice yesterday, the Aveyronnaises were caught twice by the Haut-Savoyardes.
The players from Rodez (1st) were in Haute-Savoie yesterday to face an ambitious team from Thonon-Evian who were in fifth place before the match. Les Rafettes were quick to open the scoring after Cance earned a questionable penalty in the 8th minute. The captain of Rodez was doing justice to herself by taking Joly on the wrong foot (1-0, 10th). The two teams struggled to deploy their game in the first period, with numerous fouls whistled by the director of the game. The visitors took control of the ball with in particular the blood and gold captain, omnipresent to launch the offensives of his team.
The Haut-Savoyardes managed to react thanks to Wolfbauer, the American rookie who allowed his team to come back to score in the 38th minute, thanks to a crossed ball which left Sieber no chance (1-1). Rodez got a series of corners before the break, but Joly was solid in the air. The two teams battled in midfield without being really dangerous.
On a heavy strike in the 53rd, Cance allowed Joly to stand out with a nice vertical trigger. Riquelme restored the advantage to his team in the 53rd minute with an overpowered header propelled into the back of Joly’s net (2-1). Rufié’s players tried to maintain control of the game but came up against the Haute-Savoie defense, well grouped around captain Trevisan. Thonon-Evian players who tried to react with counter-attacks orchestrated by Closset and Policarpo. In the 81st minute, De Jesus, well served by Chezeau, appeared alone against Sieber and did not miss the opportunity to equalize (2-2). The two teams could not decide between themselves until the final whistle. A good performance for Laurie Cance and her teammates who regretted not having pocketed the three points after leading twice. But they keep their first place and take a step ahead of their runners-up, Montauban, beaten by Nice, who move to second place, five points behind Rodez.
